Steve.. I have the same problem... exactly. If anyone has any solutions for this (us) please email me at [email protected]
I have the same problem. I think it is temperature. The hottest days in the house would have this shut off (no images, but sound and remote functions work (just can't see them)). I do not know how to fix this. For me this happened 3 weeks after replacing the Color wheel. Also occured as the room temperature was warmer. [email protected]
Our DLP is 3 years old. Never had a problem with the bulb or color wheel. We are now having a problem with it turning off after a few hours and then more frequently after the initial shut down. Moved it out a bit from it's cubby top give it more air, but it is still happening. No flashing lights, but when it shuts down we do here a sound from the back that kind of sounds like a cd/dvd turning. Any ideas?
I had this problem also with a HLP5663W. The TV would just switch off randomly - sometimes every few minutes, or a few times an hour. It did not happen right after switching on, so may be something had to warm up? It sort of went away. I had to replace the color wheel a very short time after the problem seemed to self-correct. I am not sure if these were connected. I am now having a problem with the lamp not coming on. I replaced the lamp and it did not help. Sorry I could not be of more help.
This tv is about 15 months old and all of a sudden it will shut off.. there are no blinking lights or warnings. I have checked to make sure the timer is off. This could happend randomly anywhere between 45 mins to 3 hours. It appears to be happening more frequently. If you turn the tv back on it comes on agin without problem.. Any thougths?
