Here's the basic timeline:
Feb 28, 2006: The bet is made.
Mar 14, 2006: Jim creates a "quality" website, HelpWinMyBet.com
March 28, 2006: 1000 hits
April 5, 2006: Site is digged.
April 5, 2006, 10 am: 10,000 hits.
April 5, 2006, 2pm: 50,000 hits.
April 5, 2006, 5pm: 300,000 hits.
April 6 wee hours of the morning, passed 2,000,000.
Jim, congrats. But put on the t-shirt. You're still an idiot for not doing better with that traffic. Banners don't work. The pleas for financial help cannot be working well either. Nobody feels sorry for a guy who's about to be a Jim-sammich.
Since you're a betting man, here's one for you. I bet you won't ever collect on your winnings. Save the shirt for later.
UPDATE 2/29/06: WTF? This clinches it. The guy's got one of the top shame-sies on the net and he can't even keep it running? Anybody know where it went? Has it really just gone dark?
That was really amazing. Wish I could have seen the site to get some ideas. I thought it was great to get 7,000 visitors in one day. Maybe I should this guy to improve the number of visitors to my site.
I will gladly where his idiot t-shirt for that traffic.
That is to crazy - I am always on the lookout for funny / interesting or creative link / traffic bait schemes - but talk about an upside (if that's your thing of course) - The problem is, win or loose - you win then loose as relationships rarely survive after said excursions.
A guy named Jim bet his girfriend Allison that he could get 2 million visitors to a website. She didn't think he could do it.
Talk about your good bets. If he loses, he wears a t-shirt for a week that says he's an idiot. If he wins, he gets a ménage-à -trois with his gf and another player to be named later (can't be a former gf or a prostitute, according to the rules.) Apparently, she has never heard of Digg.

UPDATE: oh man, Shoemoney gave the site owner a call. Brilliant.
