Ebay Down on Javascript Links

posted by jangro on (5 years, 8 months ago)

Thousands of Ebay affiliates received an email yesterday regarding their position on CJ's Link Managment Initiative, or their new javascript links. It's pretty vague, but it seems that Ebay is not terribly keen on the idea.

Instead, according to the email they're implementing their own tracking system that is compatible with CJ's reporting. I had to read it three times:

We have been working on a new HTML tracking methodology specifically for eBay that will work seamlessly with the Commission Junction interface so that all of the current reporting capabilities will remain supported.

So, they're building their own tracking links. And they'll report all the data to CJ presumably on the back-end?

David Lewis posted Ebay's email in it's entirety over at Revenews.

How does it happen that a communication like this comes out of Ebay before CJ can get it together enough to speak to it in detail?

We are officially in Bizarro World folks.

If you haven't signed the petition yet, why not?
