Reader Question: New lamp, still no picture

I have a samsung hlp5063wx/xaa Everybody, almost has told to replace the lamp. I did,still nothing. My question is, if the color wheel quits, will this keep the lamp from working. It was whining for a few months. Thanks for any help Bob
