First Droid Video. My Kids are Going to Kill Me…

by Scott Jangro on 11 November 2009

Several people have asked me about the camera and video quality on the droid phone.

I haven’t done that much with either, but we did manage an impromtu video session last night.

Here’s my three year old son Alex who appears to be doing Gilly (from SNL) doing Riverdance. I don’t know why he decided to dance, but hey, that’s what kids do.

Is it better than the iPhone 3GS? I think maybe not. I need to do some more testing, but I feel like the quality has been better on the iPhone videos I’ve taken of my kids. Granted, maybe some quality got lost in the upload to YouTube. And the light was pretty bad.

The camera app does have a share feature that allows me to send the video directly to YouTube very easily.

Large videos require a WiFi connection, but the phone will wait patiently for a connection and upload it when it gets one.

The jury is out. I think a side-by-side test is in order.

Don’t tell Alex.

  • The Android phone (G1) is awesome. I do think that the IPhone has much better video quality. I do like the barcode scanner feature on the G1 though. Does the Iphone have an App for that?
  • The iPhone has several barcode scanners though I haven't tried them all.
The one that I've enjoyed using with is Red Laser. I haven't located one in the Android Marketplace yet. What's it called?
  • That was pretty awesome. The dancing, video quality, but most importantly the footie pajamas!

Yes, very nice. (Scott - maybe we can get Shawn to do a version of this in *his* footy pj's?)
  • I think it's very the least shawn could do rather than be shown up by a 3 year old.
  • Alex was clearly inspired by the master of footie pj's, Shawn Collins himself:

  • Nice video quality, and in case you were wondering... of course I do that in my footies.

I brought them to Pubcon and I'm doing it right now as I look out on the strip.
