Changing Things Up Around Here

by Scott Jangro on 20 May 2007

Facing the fact that substantial affiliate marketing related content doesn’t come to me with any regularity, I’m going to try mixing it up a bit and write about some additional topics.

Ironically, aside from some really hot affiliate marketing topics (*cough* LMI), my most popular posts seem to be related to non-affiliate marketing topics. Therefore, I’ll stop working against the tide and will be writing more about web development subjects.

I’ll also be posting a bit more about what seem to be random topics like DLP Television issues as this blog has become somewhat an authority on that subject. By far, the most traffic comes looking for that topic. Who am I do deny what Google thinks I should write about?

Of course I remain very interested in affiliate marketing (it is my livelihood after all) and I will continue to write about that subject when the mood strikes. Since most of my time is spent supporting affiliate marketing activity with programming, web development, web ops, and technology, those are the subjects on which I spend my time and discover information that is worthy of sharing. I’ve hesitated to write much about that stuff merely because my self-defined audience is supposed to be affiliate marketing related.

I’ll do my best to organize things so you can easily decide what you may or may not wish to read and we’ll see where this goes. Thanks for sticking with me.

  • At one site I have read almost the same compilation of information and articles, but still the author thanks.
  • Scott...Found you through the BumpZee "I Follow" community and thought that I'd check out your blog. I personally want to learn more about affiliate programs, but I can always read your archives.
  • The site looks great. I really dig k2, but I'd never figured out how to make the colors change. I'm not so much with the design and CSS.

And I personally think it's great that you're turning your tide towards what your readers want. The main reason I use FeedBurner is to see what my population wants and turn the tide of writing towards that. Turns out they don't care if I'm the first person to tell them what happened at Yahoo today - they'd rather hear how it affects them, and what to do to take advantage of it.
  • I guess most bloggers want to write about one particular topic and end up writing about a number of topics... Indeed, as you say, you can't just write as often if you stick to just one topic. And we also are concerned about traffic. It is true that knowing what people are looking for just triggers us to write about it, isn't it?
  • Just checking in to see what kind of changes ave taken place around here. How is this theme doing so far? I am thinking to revamp things around my blog as well, and can't decide on a theme :(
  • Scott
puke green, huh? Hmm. I didn't think so. I'll continue to play with that.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
  • Hey Scott, I like the new look so far. Its alot cleaner and neater than the last template. Faster loading. Gotta say I like it. The only thing I'm not to fond of is the puke green header. Personally I would go with another color. :D Other than that, I love it. Also, I think its great that you are expanding your blog into other areas. Looking forward to seeing this blog a little more active I must admit.
