Today marks two weeks of my getting into shape efforts.
Laundry is becoming an issue, as expected. I dropped a few hundred at Dick’s Sporting Goods last night on shirts, shorts, and socks. I looked like nicky-new-guy on a first day of school this morning.
I’m happy to report that I’ve kept up my initial ambitious regimen, running 6 miles for each of 2-3 days in a row with one day rest in between. This week I ran Sunday evening, Monday am, Tuesday am, rested Wed, and early this morning (to beat the heat). That’s a total of 24 miles so far this week.
Going to try to squeeze one more in tomorrow morning before starting a bachelor party weekend on Friday noon and then a week of vacation on Martha’s Vineyard starting Sunday night where there will be plenty of opportunity to get some running in. Looking forward to some seaside runs.
Goals
I set my initial goal at 165. With the weight swings that comes along with the frequent workouts it is difficult to nail down my weight. A six mile run is good for an immediate loss of 2-3 lbs. So while it’s fun to step on the scale after a run (173 this morning), my real weight is probably somewhere around 176, for a loss of about 3 lbs.
Plus, I’d hope that some of the weight has shifted over to new muscle. In any case, I’m pretty happy with the results so far.
Come to think of it, a weight goal is probably the wrong approach. I don’t really care what the scale says. What’s more important is being happy about how I look and feel. Or something a little more measurable, like getting comfortably into pair of pants with a 30″ waist (got a couple inches to go there). Some heavier muscle elsewhere doesn’t affect that one.
Thanks!

You Help Me, I’ll Help You
If you haven’t figured it out by now, some encouraging words by you here on my blog or elsewhere will get you a mention in a subsequent post. It’s the least I can do.
BUT, if you’re going to be my friend (or even just pretend), post your comment with your name or initials. Don’t stuff spammy keywords in the name field for obvious SEO benefit. Don’t use me. It’s annoying.
“sex toys” and “palm coast”, I’ll use you guys as an example. Be real. Post with a non-spammy comment name and you’ll get much better back in return.
