How do I replace the color wheel in my samsung hls5086?
There are a few different models of the HLS5086:
- HLS5086W
- HLS5086WX
- HLS5086WX/XAA
- HLS5086WXXAC
The bp96-01579a color wheel does appear to be the correct model number for your set, and while I don’t have specific instructions, based on comments, at least one person has successfully done it following the instructions here: Samsung Color Wheel.
If I were you, I’d arm myself with those instructions, a digital camera, and some masking tape and a pen (to label wires) and start taking the set apart. Follow the light path from the lamp to locate the color wheel and from there you can work on freeing the bad one.
Reverse the steps to install the new one and you’ll be on your way.
