I do not have video, only sound through all inputs. I can hold the volume key down and can see video, not great, but the entire screen shows but not bright. Could this be the lamp or could the problem be the DMD Board?

I have Samsung HLN437W TV. I purchased it in 2004 and really have not had any problems. It use to occasionally shut off about 2 years ago but since having HD receiver upgraded don't have that problem anymore. Don't think that is an issue or has anything to do with it, however, several months ago screen started getting darker. I was under warranty so I thought it might be time to change lamp. I ordered lamp and they sent me upgraded Phillips lamp BP9600224J, my original was BP9600224C (P). This is strange. I received lamp and by the time I did my picture seem to be better so I kept old lamp for another 11/2 years. Approximate total hours of 8600.

Okay, to make long story short I finally put new lamp in and after about 4 weeks it internally exploded filiments. So I kept old one which was still somewhat okay and reinstalled that and after about 6 hours use it also did the same thing? So now I am confused? I don't and cannot put alot of money out for someone to troubleshoot. I do occassionally get that whining sound but it is not that bad so I don't think it is colorwheel but it is probably due for one. My best guess is that it is the ballast, but I am not sure?

    Does anyone have any ideas?
