The TV will not turn on. Appears that there is no power to the TV at all. Checked all connections including wall outlet to ensure that everything is plugged in and working.
There’s nothing more frustrating than nothing happening when you turn on a device!
My first question is, when did this start happening?
Was it all of a sudden, or have there been other things going wrong like a slow startup?
Did it turn off while you were watching it?
Was there some event like a thunderstorm or a power outage?
Here’s what I would start with…
- Test the outlet. Plug something else in there to make sure there’s nothing wrong.
Is the TV plugged into a powerstrip or a cable box? If so, get those out of the mix and plug the TV directly into the wall. - Unplug the set for a long time and try again.
- Verify that there is truly no life. Listen and watch closely at the back of the set when you turn it on. Do you get any clicks, fans, or flickers of light?
Still nothing? Unfortunately, at this point to figure out exactly what’s wrong you probably need a technician who has the test equipment necessary to see what’s going wrong.
Since this is a CRT television, it is not something that is easily serviced your self. Further, it would probably be prohibitively expensive to get it repaired.
Probably not what you want to hear, but it is probably time to look into some nice 30″+ LCD Televisions.
