The Emperor’s New Blog

by Scott Jangro on 31 December 2008

emporersnewclothes.jpgIn my previous post, I shared that I’m looking to launch a parallel blog to this one and got a ton of great feedback on how it should be named.

I need a second blog because I want to write about stuff that doesn’t fit here on jangro.com.

But in all the great feedback, good ideas, and discussion on personal branding, one person loudly exclaimed that the emperor has no clothes.

There is no crisis here. It’s all in my head.

In fact, there’s no reason why I cannot write about more topics on this blog. As he pointed out, John Chow and Shoemoney do it. Why can’t I?

I simply need to get over myself and my own hang-ups about what this blog is really all about.

Jangro.com is not about affiliate marketing, it’s about what’s on my mind.

A very big part of me is affiliate marketing and social media, but I’m also:

  • an engineer,
  • a web publishing company owner,
  • a web developer,
  • a proud dad, a husband, and a son,
  • a hopeless geek,
  • an apple fanboy.
  • a skier (a pretty good one),
  • a runner (currently an infrequent one),
  • a photographer (a poor one),
  • and a golfer (a REALLY poor one).

Is there room for all that stuff here? Maybe there is.

So on this New Year’s Eve, I think I’ll reflect on that for a day or so.

Happy New Year to you and yours. I wish you all the success in 2009.

  • You're describing yourself in bullet points which leads me to believe that you should've gone with hopelessgeek.com instead of snaps! But snaps is clever and catchy and I am too lazy to go read another blog so well done. (see I caught up on all the posts I had missed) Originally I would have told you to go with ScottJangro.com but hey I am not one of your smart friends.
  • well , why don't you kust created a new category ??? I think that will be less bugging to u , but any way , best wishes for u on ur new blog .
    Trying to SEO?
  • Managing multiple blogs is a pain. Believe me. I may not have achieved your levels of success but I know..

  • I think that it is a very easy transition to make to talk about other things on this blog. In order to make it work, you still have to provide your readers with quality post, then you can mix in some of the other stuff that you would wish to discuss.

Good stuff, Scott. I fight the same battles with blogs but you have chosen wisely.
  • Don't kid yourself Scott...I think you're a pretty good golfer! Good choice, BTW!
  • never say never, Shawn.
  • Does this mean I won't be seeing dlp.jangro.com?

There was a time when I had about five sites going because I was worried that putting five topics, which I thought were mutually exclusive, into a single site would be a bad idea. Once I realized that they weren't mutually exclusive and that what they had in common was me, I merged 'em all into one site. It's been less stressful ever since!
