Not very long ago, I announced the availability of my new Affiliate Blog List. Since then, I’ve added some new features and given it a bit of a facelift (because Jim Kukral is a self-proclaimed design snob and won’t visit an ugly site). Ok, it’s still ugly, but it’s less ugly.
Again, the general idea of the blog list is that I think that there are a bunch of great blogs out there and some really interesting posts appear all over the Net. We all have our feed readers, but it’s so easy to miss something important. By adding a social aspect to what’s otherwise an RSS reader, I’m hoping that the truly-can’t-miss posts will bubble up to the top. So if you read a blog entry and like it, give it a bump, increasing the chances that others will see it too.
There are other folks out there who have similar efforts, like Linda Buquet’s AffiliateMarketingBuzz.com and Terry at SuperAff.com’s Affiliate Marketing Blogs list. I don’t mean to step on those, but hey, if we never did stuff because someone else is working on it, we’d have nothing to do. Anyway, check ‘em out.
Feature-wise, I’ve done a number of things in the past few days:
- I cleaned up the voting scheme. Previously, it was possible for anyone to vote multiple times, heck, even googlebot could bump or dump an entry and that was becoming a problem!
- I’ve added accounts and profiles. What’s a social site without user accounts, thumbnail profile pictures, and a mechanism for adding friends to your profile? Your profile page also has a list of the entries that you have bumped. So you can keep track of your favorite blog entries.
- Â Â Â Â You can also comment on blog entries and perhaps share your thoughts on why they’re a good read.
I’ve got some other new features in mind and will be working on those. If you have any ideas, please do let me know. It’s a fun project.
I’ll close with an answer to the top question I’m getting:
“I have blog, how do I get listed?” Or, “How come you haven’t included my blog? I’m the preeminent affiliate marketing blogger, donchaknow!”
Answer: If your blog is about Internet Marketing, I’d be happy to include it. So far, I’ve included blogs that have requested inclusion and I’m starting to add those that I personally like to read. Affiliate Marketing is the focus and I think expanding into SEO makes sense as well. I’ll include most blogs, but If you’re an affiliate with a blog selling something, I don’t think that’s a great fit. Please drop me an email or add a comment here if you’d like to be included.
If you’re enjoying the tool, please let me know.
