Just got an email yesterday announcing that DicksSportingGoods has moved over to LinkShare from Be Free. The BeFree program ends on 6/3.
Dicks is offering a 1% bonus commission for affiliates during May to prompt a quick swap from Be Free to Linkshare links.
This is a big one. Dicks is one of the ecommerce sites run by GSI Commerce. GSI runs just about every sports store on the Internet (Dicks, Modells, Sportsmart, MVP, MCsports) as well as many other sites as well. They account for perhaps 20% of the remaining hundred or so merchants at Be Free. Now, there’s no reason why GSI cannot run their programs on different platforms. They already do for some. But it makes sense for them to move to a single platform.
Given that they left CJ for BeFree years ago and mass-moved about 30 properties, it only stands to reason that they won’t go back.
The Be Free Death Pool continues to grow. How about that, finally something for me to do with the Ex-BeFree domain name I bought back in 2001.
