I’m not one to post news-only stuff, but this one’s big. And I haven’t seen it surface in the Affiliate Marketing Community yet.

Microsoft is buying aQuantive.

This puts Microsoft more squarely in the online advertising marketplace, clearly in response to Google’s acquisition of Doubleclick. This leaves VCLK and Yahoo standing out in the cold together.

Shares of aQuantive closed at $35.87 on Thursday on the Nasdaq. ValueClick, the last sizable independent player in the online advertising market saw its shares jump as much as 12.5 percent in premarket trade to $31.36 from $27.88.

  • And I thought that the purchase of Doubleclick for $3.1 Billion was big. Now $6 Billion, but is this company bigger than DoubleClick? , I have never heard of them before.
Let's see who buys ValueClick, I say it will be Google.
