Blogs Don’t Hurt People

by Scott Jangro on 18 November 2006

People hurt people. Someone’s got too much time on his hands.

A saying comes to mind.

“It’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Or written a bit differently , a much longer time ago:

“Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise:
and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.”

OK now, to the point.

Aptly, yet subtly brought to light in the midst of yet another gem of a comment-flame-fest that Jeff Molander finds himself in the middle of, is a small project that allegedly Jeff has had in stealth mode for a few months now. Getting ready for a big launch maybe?

Update 11/20/2006: The offending website about which this was written has been taken down. Therefore, as to not perpetuate the hateful message it contained, I have removed the details from this post. For you monday-friday types, sorry you missed out on the “fun”. It wasn’t really any fun, nor do I really want that stuff posted here anyway. I’m glad the site has been taken down.

I will leave this entry and the comments intact. While this entry did nothing more than shine a light on something an individual had posted on his own website and server (authorship of the content still unconfirmed), more personal and hurtful (not to mention downright incorrect) comments came from the same person, this time toward me, completey out of nowhere. I don’t want it to look like I removed it because of those comments.

Ironically the title and intro still fit.

  • Hey can I join in

Wait, while you were performing the reversal (incorrectly -- I have nothing to do with those guys, nor do I have anything to explain) you forgot to answer the question. So it's not your website Jeff? I'll gladly apologize and retract if I'm wrong.
  • It's not a pile on, Jeff.

To follow Scott's example in the post, I'll quote paraphrase something old and say it's more of a washing of hands.
  • It's a pile on and Sam wastes no time!

Hey, Scott, good to see you didn't jump to conclusions on this or pick up the phone and call me. After all, this is affiliate marketing where we all find it very easy to just type things to each other that we would otherwise not do at a conference or in the flesh.

Maybe I should consider publishing my interviews with your former colleagues who tell stories of your pioneering ways. I speak of your, [name removed], [name removed] and [name removed]'s new company (which you work so hard to not discuss) that was started while all of you were at CJ and through using your wives names on CJ affiliate accounts.

Congratulations on all that financial success and on being so bold as to use your wife's married name -- unlike your comrades who weren't quite so bold. You're a true leader. Perhaps you might comment in a blog some day about how you were able to pull this off for so many years and even build a fan club that joined you. Share tips with affiliates so that they might know how to innovate similarly if they end up going back to work some day. After all, they educated you well enough to feed your family... and feed them well.

Thanks for gathering up such conclusive evidence on this, again. I would be remiss if I didn't, also, thank Jim "selective rules" Kukral of Revenews.

[edit: I removed the names of guys who have nothing to do with this issue]

"And what do you think, reader, is this sort of thing cool?"

It's weird and obsessive and certainly not professional.
