Affiliate Hero Knocked off his Horse

by Scott Jangro on 08 February 2005

Ben Edelman’s website was hit today with a DDoS attack, the “worse ever faced” by his ISP, Globat.

Ben’s a spyware/malware vigilante, whistleblower, and hero of the little-guy-affiliate, airing the dirty laundry and practices of the big affiliates who employ technology to better their chances for earning a buck. He’s catches them in the act and records it using screen capture video on his PC for all to see. He’s shown time and time again what he presents as commission overwriting practices of affiliates like 180Solutions, Ebates, and even recently some questionable activity by iGive, who have always been very conservative with their use of technology.

Now who affected by his work would have the resources to issue a distributed denial of service attack?

Oh, right, everybody.

No, I’m not suggesting that Moe Money Maker would do something so vile.

Maybe it was the DDoS Mafia, an alleged denial of service attack for hire service. Now that’s some serious business.

Did Ben Edelman stike a nerve? Got a little too close for comfort? Who knows. It’s never boring in Affiliateville.
