ABW Best of 2006 Awards
It is time again for the annual ABestWeb Awards.
Both Haiko and Brian Littleton were kind enough to nominate me for the “Best Service to the Industry” award for my vocal stance on the Commission Junction Link Management Initiative, including a petition that I delivered to the management team at commission junction as well as several [...]

CJ Take Another Few Steps in the Right Direction
As scooped by Vinny Lingham on Revenews, Commission Junction is starting a Publisher Advisory Board. Like Vinny, I’ve been invited to be on the board and look forward to participating and helping CJ shape its future direction.

The Link Management Tides are Turning
The following just appeared in the Alerts section in the CJ account manager interface.
On August 30, 2006 publishers will notice changes in getting links in the CJ Account Managerâ„¢. This change will make it easier for publishers to choose either HTML or JavaScript links. To reiterate there are no plans to remove support for HTML [...]

Last Friday, I paid a personal visit to the CJ office in Marlborough, MA to deliver the printed version of the petition.

I’m [...]

I received this question from a CJ publisher this morning:
I was happy to find your site today and read more about the new CJ affiliate links. I thought I’d start converting last night, but even when checking the option for the link to open in a new window, the JS script did not operate in [...]

A Practical Look at LMI
The Commission Junction Link Management Initiative (LMI) has prompted a strong reaction from affiliates. CJ is planning a change their link structure from plain HTML links over to mandatory use Javascript links. While some may feel that “links are links”, or that it must be fine because similar offerings, like Google Adsense and [...]

Javascript Redirect through HTTP POST
One of the major issues with CJ’s new Javascript links is that they prevent affiliates from sending traffic through local redirects. This is a very common method used for tracking and link abstraction. It is, after all, the method upon which traditional affiliate and other tracking links are based. I use local [...]

CJ’s LMI Javascript Links: Under the Hood
UPDATE: I’ve added the “How did I do this?” section at the bottom of this entry containing a tool developed to see inside CJ’s Javascript Links.
Now that CJ’s new Javascript links are available for examination, we can better understand what will be possible, and what will not.
My first glance at the links last night and [...]
