Google Affiliate Network: Commence Assimilation

The rebranding of the Performics Connect Commerce Platform has begun. These guys don’t waste any time:

I’ll take this opportunity to call out my biggest annoyance with Performics. Anyone else get this warning on logging in? I appreciate the gesture guys, but we’re a commonly supressed domain? Maybe we’re on a blacklist somewhere. Dunno.

Anyway, things are progressing steadily over there at the new Google Affiliate Network. If they don’t stop at cosmetic changes, this will be fun.

Also, check out the interview that Chris Henger did with Angel…uh…D. over at Revenews.com. I’m glad to that Chris can maintain his outspokenness in light of the recent changes.

The warning said "prefix" instead of "domain." I've never heard anyone refer to an email prefix, but since a prefix comes at the beginning, my first assumption was that they were referring to the part before the @ sign. Otherwise, wouldn't they just have said "domain" instead?

Good point Shane. It is a generic name, like admin, even so, the warning doesn't make much sense to me.

Maybe Larry will notice this and explain.

Hola Scott. Sorry for the delay, was in transit to the Googleplex today and just caught up with emails and such.

Shane's got it right, but to prevent others from having to click over to ABW for the full answer

We currently use a third party to send out email to our publishers.

Spammers often harvest domains and send emails to addresses like admin@domain, webmaster@domain, etc. because they are easy targets and usually deliverable.

Because of this ISPs and spam filter software vendors will penalize senders that distribute lots of mail to addresses like the ones I mentioned, either by reducing their deliverability score or blocking them from sending to their domain entirely.

This is a death sentence for an ESP, so they don't let any of their customers send to those addresses.

Make sense?

The article is really interesting, I had the same problem with this affiliate program. But it has been solved some days ago, so it is all okay right now.

Unlike you guys, I haven't had any problems so far with Google's Affiliate Network. Thank God. I'm going to freak out the moment I'll have. LOL!
